BACK!

I had to take a break, but I am back the night before Halloween. After I made cupcakes, of course. If you're wondering what I'm wearing tomorrow, I will be going as greed as part of the 7 deadly sins.

Anyway, onto my question of the evening. What is with all of the metallic shorts and pants I've seen lately? I've seen these things a lot lately and I have to say... shiny is not flattering. It kind of makes your (anyone's) ass look huge and it's just kind of silly. I know Halloween is tomorrow, but I don't think that there is any other day that shimery silver shorts should be worn. Especially sequined silver shorts.

I say this because I love Marie Claire, but I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed with the feature on shiny shorts. The other mentions of things like "Stripes are the new neutral" and shorts in fall really made me smile. But I think it's really fascinating how a print, stripes, has become so essential in the wardrobe that it is actually now being called a neutral. I know a lot of people don't like wearing stripes, but I think that stripes are for anyone (see my love of my striped boyfriend cardigan), you just have to find the ones you love. I know people say that it makes you look bigger than you are, but not if it fits properly.

Heels are great, but...

According to Nina Garcia, fashion guru, and my personal hero, Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars are a must have. Throw them on with a skirt, pants, jeans, shorts, leggings and a dress, they can suit. And think about it, you can get them in nearly every color, different patterns, and even design them yourself. They're a great utilitarian shoe. They work in a pit, painting, walking, running to a sale (or from paparazzi) and they aren't too expensive. You put in laces with pink broken hearts and gray brass knuckles in the classic black and white low tops, and they are no longer Chuck Taylors, they are Andrea's Chuck Taylors. One of my favorite past times is designing different ones on the website, and then realizing nothing fits me like black and white low tops with some sort of pink and black lace. So go, PLAY!

2 Days Later

I shall entertain readers with this:

http://tightsarenotpants.com/

Because they aren't. I am part of team Tights are not Pants. And I'm over people who don't understand that. I wear them under skirts all the time, but I think that this should be shared.

Pick O' The Week

As a girl from Colorado, I must say that I am a girl who loves utility pieces. I love anything that functions well as a utility piece. Don't get me wrong, I love my heels and I love dresses, but one of my favorite things is the boyfriend cardigan (the picture at the bottom is the one I wear at least 2 times a week.) Because it functions as a piece for any kind of semi-casual outfit, I think it is a must-have. Jeans and a tee shirt with some sneakers and a giant cardigan or tights and a mini dress with this is perfection. So, while it may be a short blog, my pick of the week (which will happen every Monday) is the boyfriend cardigan. Run out and buy one, or, if you're so inclined, steal one from a guy you know won't last. He may not, but I bet the sweater will...

For the pale girls...

So, tonight's topic is inspired by my sister from another mister, T. The question I received on Twitter reads like this:

"So what is a good color for an über pale person like me to wear?"

T, here's the thing. Pale is finally in. Now we all know that tans only lead to bad things
(skin cancer and leathery, wrinkled like a shar-pei skin and while Donatella Versace can rock it, no one else can!) And the really cool thing is that you can see girls with your coloring all over the place. My personal favorite: Anne Hathaway. She knows how to play with her skin tone. The dark hair, dark eyes, pale look can handle almost anything. I love the dark colors on this coloring. Black, chocolate, tar... minimal makeup a pretty blush and a bold lip can really heighten those colors. Jewel tones also look fabulous. I love violet and jade on a pale girl (See the picture of A.H. from The Devil Wears Prada).

Not into Miss Hathaway's colors? Okay, Michelle Tractenberg has been really pulling off some nice things on Gossip Girl. Grays and blacks, some nice pastels- blues, pinks, lavender. Lots of neutrals with bold accessories: camels and taupes.

So summation? Pale girls ROCK! Do me a favor and stay away from orange, but I think even you, Oh-So-Lucky-One, can wear canary yellow and look fabulous. But do me one favor: Stay away from true white. I mean, unless you want to look your skin is forming around you in a shirt-like fashion, white is not the color for you. Be bold!

The Importance of the Team Shirt

This is the theme because my beloved Yankees won tonight. I mean, sure not a graceful win, but still, magical.

There should be a place reserved in every man and woman's wardrobe for the sports shirt. I have several. Yeah, I usually sleep in my super huge sports tees, but now I think no one should live without a cool item from their favorite sports team. My personal favorite is for the baseball fan within: The Baseball undershirt. I rock the navy and white shirt because it represents the colors of my favorite team, is completely flattering, and is kinda sexy because it is men's wear on a woman. However, it is sexy on a man too. Form fitting and nicely cut... it is completely unisex.

Here's the thing, they're making cool gear for BOTH sexes/genders, and they are quite flattering. I mean, if (okay, when) in the past I've dated guys who don't have a cap with a sports team on it, it freaks me out. I have at least 5 Yankees hats, 3 Broncos hats, 2 OU hats, and probably a UNC hat floating around somewhere. I own countless Yankess tees to sleep in/work out in. So, I don't want to be the only one in the relationship rocking the sports tees. I don't need to feel more masculine than by bf. However, i do think that it's okay that I love the Yankees that much. I want a guy who wears his team cap everywhere and owns more jerseys than me.

On a guy a sports shirt can be manly, but still sexy. On a woman it can be feminine but still express a passion. It's an expression of self, pride, love, hate, rivalry, it can be anything. In the end, it is something to be cherished. I say, love thy sports team, love thy self.

Beginnings...

I was thinking about my pet peeves today. And I was thinking about how I can take my love of fashion to the next level. I was thinking of ways to keep myself working, thinking and current within the fashion world. Here it is, my personal blog about my views on fashion. So, here's the list.

Right now I am...

Designing a handbag that will have deer all over it.
Working on advice for people's closets.
Chilling with my puppy.
Wishing I was watching Gossip Girl.
Thinking about wanting Blair Waldorf's clothes.
Knowing I'd wear more of Serena's.

Okay... So, here it is. The inspiration of this blog is the repeated comment that people love waiting to see what I'll wear from day to day. I like dresses. I like skirts. I like tee shirts. I LOVE high high heels. I LOVE cardigans. But today someone asked me if there was anything I wouldn't wear. Here are my answers:

I do not wear turtlenecks. I have a short neck and big boobs. The turtleneck will only make me look like I have no neck. I have big boobs, and thusly, a turtleneck actually makes my boobs look like they are coming out of my stomach. It makes my torso look too long.

I do not wear yellow, with one exception- my neon yellow "Frankie Says Relax" tee. I also rarely wear orange. Generally on fair skin, these colors make people look like they are going to vomit. They are not flattering. They make fair skin look even paler, and bring out dark circles under people's eyes. If one of these is your favorite color, that's great. But that is not a reason to wear it when it looks bad. People of a darker toned skin can look more than fabulous in these colors. Bitches.

I don't wear kitten heels. I don't actually have a problem with them, I just like giant heels.

I don't wear patterned tights because I do not want my legs to look like they are the size of tree trunks. Simple.

Belly shirts. They're not flattering. On any one.
